The VIP Web Design was founded in Montelupo Fiorentino in 2015 by Sergio Conti. The name is deliberate: VIP stands for Very Intentional Projects. Not very important clients. Not very impressive packages. Projects where the work is done with genuine intention — a brief that asks the right questions, a design that serves a specific purpose, a development process that produces something that actually performs.
The studio operates from a small town with a long history of craft. Montelupo Fiorentino has been producing ceramics since the 14th century. The town sits between Florence and Empoli — close enough to the city to serve its business community, far enough to maintain a quality of work that the pace of a large agency makes difficult. Most of our clients are in Tuscany. Some are in other parts of Italy. A small number are elsewhere in Europe.
We have three people. Sergio handles creative direction and project management. Alessia Romano leads design. Matteo Galli leads development. Three-person studios make different decisions than larger agencies. We take on fewer projects simultaneously. We are slower to say yes to work that does not fit our scope. We are more accountable for the outcomes because there is no account manager between us and the client.
The clients we work with are predominantly businesses in traditional or artisan sectors — hospitality, professional services, food and agriculture, local retail — who need design work that reflects the quality of what they offer rather than generic web agency output. This is not a niche we chose strategically. It is where the most interesting work has consistently been.
Three-person studio. All work done by the three of us — no outsourcing, no contractors, no project managers between you and the people doing the work.

Sergio founded The VIP Web Design in Montelupo Fiorentino in 2015. Before that, he spent eight years at agencies in Florence and Milan. The move back to his hometown was deliberate — working with local businesses, being close to the client base, and building something he could be responsible for rather than one part of a larger production line.
Alessia handles all visual design at VIP. She studied communication design at ISIA Firenze and joined VIP in 2018. She has a particular interest in how premium visual design for artisan and hospitality businesses in Tuscany differs from what works in consumer tech or fashion — sectors that dominate most design education and reference material.
Matteo leads all development and technical work at VIP. He joined in 2020 after five years of freelance frontend development. He is focused on performance — Lighthouse scores, Core Web Vitals, and the specific ways that slow load times cost businesses real money in paid advertising and organic rankings.
